Sherri Shepherd’s First Husband Wants Custody of Their 9-Year-Old Son (VIDEO)
Sherri Shepherd better have a good lawyer. The View host is facing some serious time in court in the months ahead.
Last week we heard Sherri’s estranged husband Lamar Sally had filed for divorce. He followed that blow up by asking for sole custody of the couple’s unborn child, whom they’re expecting via surrogate this July. That’s not the only baby up for debate in Sherri’s life, though.
Now we’re hearing that before Lamar ever filed his papers, the 47-year-old’s first husband, Jeff Tarpley, requested full physical custody of their son, according to TMZ. Jeff and Sherri were married from 2001 to 2010 and have a 9-year-old son with special needs. Jeff says his ex neglects Jeffrey, Jr. because of her busy schedule, hence his emergency request last month to modify their current custody agreement.
According to TMZ, Jeff claims Sherri leaves their son with “unskilled nannies” and, as a result, he is failing in school, suffering emotionally, and lacking in basic life skills like tying his own shoes and proper hygiene. Jeff lives in California while Sherri and Junior call New Jersey home. Now he wants his son to move west and live with him full time.
Sherri’s countering the claims with her own paperwork and a judge denied the emergency request. A hearing to settle the matter was set in July, which is shaping up to be a busy month for Sherri.
