Should Alex Take the Private Practice Job on Grey’s Anatomy?

Alex (Justin Chambers) is thinking about making a major change on Grey's Anatomy: he might join a private practice. This would be a huge change for him, and it looks like Arizona isn't going to let him go without a fight. But should he listen to his mentor, or pursue the opportunity to make some money and have more freedom with his schedule?

OK, first things first: Our guess is this plot device was put in place as a contingency plan in case Justin Chambers decides not to renew his contract at the end of the season. From a meta standpoint, chances are Alex isn't going anywhere (at least not for long) if Justin decides to stick around — though hey, what do we know? Maybe the show would have him working at a separate job for a while.

So real life practicalities aside, is taking the job offer a good move for Alex?

We can definitely see both sides of the argument. Working at Grey Sloan memorial allows Alex to do extraordinary medicine. Plus, Grey Sloan is where his friends and girlfriend are — and with their crazy schedules, maintaining those relationships would take a lot more work if they can't see each other on the job.

On the other hand, the private practice gig would give Alex a really hefty paycheck, which is nothing to sneeze at. On top of that, he'd have more reasonable hours. If he's motivated, he can turn those things into an opportunity to do a lot of good in the world. Plus, there's something to be said for branching out in your career.

Do you think Alex should stay where he is, or take the new gig? Sound off in the comments below!
