Dancing With the Stars: Should the Judges Be Replaced?

It seems like every year, rumors fly about Dancing With the Stars shaking up its judging panel, and yet Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Len Goodman are still with us. However, given the other changes in store for Season 17, this year's batch of rumors seem slightly more plausible.

With DWTS' ratings plummeting, it's clear something has to change. ABC has already cut the show back to one night a week — who's to say they won't also cut the judges, or perhaps add an extra judge (maybe someone who's more of a "celebrity") to the panel?

We're not sure how we feel about the concept of changing the panel. Sure, the judges can be over-the-top ridiculous, and sometimes they make calls we just don't understand (Len, we're still mad about that seven you gave Kellie), but they're an integral part of the show's charm. And as much as we can get grumpy when Len is super picky, we love that he's someone with real ballroom experience.

That said, we're not entirely opposed to some sort of change around the judges. We'd definitely love to see a return of the .5 paddles that were used during All Stars, and a fourth judge might help revitalize the program. Though, if you ask us, bringing in a former DWTS pro would be more useful and interesting than some random celebrity.
