Should Lea Michele Have Worn Black For Her Tearful Cory Monteith Speech?

Lea Michele (Rachel) stepped out in Universal City, California on August 11, to personally thank her fans for being so supportive since her boyfriend Cory Monteith’s (Finn) tragic death.

The Glee actress had the whole room in tears as she spoke about Cory while accepting her award for Choice TV Actress: Comedy at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards. But instead of wearing something dark and somber, as we're sure she's been feeling inside, Lea paid tribute to Cory in a bright pink dress.

We’ve only seen Lea out in public a few times since Cory’s death, and her wardrobe choices did appear to be favoring the color black. Given that, we weren't sure whether she would make her first public appearance the same way, to show fans that she's still mourning.

But with so much sorrow surrounding the topic already, we think Lea pulled herself together graciously and let fans feel a little more positive with her bubbly outfit and touching words. She was even seen smiling before the awards, so we're sure it helped all of the Gleeks out there to feel a bit better.

What do you think about Lea's speech and her decision to steer clear of a dark dress for her first time speaking to the public? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
