X Factor 2013: Should Restless Road Have Gone Home?

Okay, so we fully realize that tonight’s elimination on Season 3 of The X Factor isn’t as big of an upset as if say, Alex & Sierra had gone home. But it still certainly comes as a shock. During the December 12 episode of The X Factor 2013, favorite country boy band Restless Road was sent packing.

That’s right. Country crooners Zach Beeken, Colton Pack, and Andrew Scholz are officially out of the competition. The Top 3 contenders are Alex & Sierra from Simon Cowell’s Groups, Jeff Gutt of Kelly Rowland’s Over 25s, and Carlito Olivero from Paulina Rubio’s Boys.

Judge Simon seemed genuinely upset at Restless Road’s departure. He’s been a strong supporter of the trio since he brought them together, telling the three guys that they represent a unique and untapped area of the market. They’re a country boy band...sort of like a country version of One Direction.

But you know what? 1D didn’t win their season of The X Factor UK. And they're probably the biggest boy band in the world right now. So this doesn’t mean that RR’s journey is over. Simon echoed these thoughts onstage as he said his goodbyes. “This is not the end. You’ve been an excellent group to work with,” he told the boys.

“We just want to say thank you to everyone who got us this far,” Colton told the audience. “I promise you, this is not the end of the road for us.”

What do you think: Were you shocked by Restless Road’s elimination, or did you see it coming? Head below and sound off with your thoughts.
