Sienna Miller may be older and wiser now that she has experience navigating Hollywood and raising a baby, but in a new interview with Esquire UK, she admits that when she first started out, she had no idea what she was doing — and that led to a lot of big mistakes.
“I was a young 21,” she said. “Not green as grass — I was by no means an innocent — but I had faith in the goodness of everyone. I was very open. And that led me into all sorts of situations that backfired.”
Like her affair with a married actor, Balthazar Getty, who has 4 children… and how it totally affected the way the public saw her.
“I sabotaged things. I burned a lot of bridges,” Sienna admitted. “What was going on in my private life was not an easy thing to read about. People don’t want to see films with people they don’t approve of in them.”
“I felt like I had no control over any aspect of my life, professionally or personally,” Sienna added. “So I deliberately disappeared. I was sick of myself, to be honest, or sick of that perception of me. It all felt so f—king dirty.”
So after all that’s gone wrong, is Sienna worried she’ll repeat the same mistakes now that she’s ready to make movies again? Not this time. Her daughter, Marlowe, helps keep her grounded.
“I feel really settled. I have a wonderful life,” she said. “I’m up every morning with a little baby. That gives you incredible perspective. It’s such a gift. And it’s grounding in a way you can’t describe. And going back to work is really exciting and fun.”
