Simon Cowell Plans Major X Factor Change — Could “Reinvent” the Show!

As we wait to hear if X Factor will be returning for a fourth season here in the States, the show’s full steam ahead over in the United Kingdom.

It’s no secret the series thrives on the other side of the Atlantic with show producer Simon Cowell recently signing a multi-million dollar deal to renew it for another three years. But just because it’s doing well, doesn’t mean Mr. Nasty won’t throw in a few surprises for the next round of X Factor UK.

A major shake-up on the judging panel seems likely as veteran X Factor-ers Sharon Osbourne and Gary Barlow say “cheerio” to the series. Now Simon’s said to have set his sights on mixing up the voting rules, too.

A source tells The Daily Mail Simon is committed to making voting free.

“It will mean millions more young people will be able to vote on websites like Twitter,” explains the Daily Mail source, adding it will “reinvent” the show. In fact, the change would be so big the unnamed source claims if free voting had been around when One Direction had been competing, they would have won the whole series rather than take third!

“Viewers will feel more engaged and want to continue watching each week when they know their opinion will count,” the very informed insider continues. “It will help us create champions more popular with younger people who wouldn’t necessarily have been prepared to pay to vote.”

What would you make of the change? Think it be a good one for X Factor in the U.S. if the show lives to see another season? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
