Demi Lovato’s bowing out from The X Factor and while the news might sound like good tidings for Dems’s frenemy and fellow judge Simon Cowell, he actually seems kind of sad that the 21-year-old pop star is bidding the show adieu.
To avoid any reports he might be happy to see the back of Demi’s blue-haired head, the show producer took to his Twitter earlier today (December 19 and The X Factor grand finale).
“She and I have had our ups and downs but now consider her a true friend. The door will always be open. And thank you Demi. Simon.x,” he adds. Man, between this and the stream of cute puppy photos Simon’s been sharing lately we’re starting to think Mr. Nasty needs a new nickname.
Simon also used his Twitter time to address rumors tonight’s Season 3 finale might be the last show for X Factor US ever. “As to what happens in the new year. Stay posted,” he writes before hinting once again that there are major changes ahead for the US version of the series. “Next year on our shows the rules change. I had a light bulb moment two weeks ago.”
Potential changes to the show include the departure of Simon as a judge and, if he gets his way, the addition of Miley Cyrus to the judging panel (yep, think about that). Whether or not these are part of that “light bulb moment” Simon mentioned remains to be seen, but he’s got a suggestion on how to pass the time as we wait for details: “And if you want to make yourself happy over Xmas watch wonderful life and elf.”
Consider it done, Mr. Cowell.
