Singer Sues McDonald’s Over Glass Shard In Chicken Sandwich
Jacqueline Simpson was not ‘loving it’ when, according to the New York Post, she bit into a piece of glass while eating a chicken sandwich at a lower Manhattan McDonald's.
The gospel singer, who lives In Brooklyn, alleges that the incident happened in May of 2010 at a McDonald’s near the World Trade Center. She says the shard of glass was bigger than a penny, and contends that it ruined her voice.
“Now when I sing, I have a hoarse, rattly voice,” the 52-year-old singer said. She filed a suit in Brooklyn’s Supreme Court yesterday, adding, “I still sing alto, but I can’t sing soprano like I used to.”
Simpson, a clerk for the state attorney general's office, also said, “I have to make a lot of calls for work, and I have to tell people that I’m not a man. Before, that never happened.”
Owner and operator of several Manhattan area McDonald's restaurants, Paul Goodman, told the Huffington Post via email that he plans to look into the incident: “Rest assured I take these matters very seriously. Providing safe food and beverages is a top priority at my restaurant. Upon learning about this claim, I took immediate action to gather the facts and began an investigation into the matter. As this is a pending legal matter, it would [be] inappropriate to comment further.”
