Julianne Hough Vowed To Be Single for a Year — So About That New Guy…
How do you follow an act like Ryan Seacrest? With Brian Dunkleman. We kid, we kid. In fact, when it comes to romance, the answer appears to be you don’t follow a fellow like Ryan.
The American Idolhost’s ex-girlfriend Julianne Hough tells Self that after she and her beau of more than two years parted ways in March 2013, she made herself a promise. “My goal has been to be single for an entire year,” the 25-year-old told the magazine.
Maybe that doesn't sound particularly challenging but singlehood isn’t her norm, Julianne says.
“I’m a relationship girl, and I feel so grateful for the ones I’ve been in. They’ve been excellent — I’ve been hurt but never angry — and they’ve helped me grow to be who I am today.” That said, she wanted to see what it was like to be a single lady for awhile.
Her conclusion: “There have been moments when I’m like, ‘This sucks!’ But my dad used to say to me, ‘When you feel happy with who you are, you won’t need anybody to fill a void.’”
That’s a great mindset and all except for one 6-foot-2-inch detail: Julianne’s rumored new boyfriend, Brooks Laich. She was spotted out with the Canadian hockey player last week and while neither have confirmed they’re an item, photos show them looking pretty darn cozy in L.A.
Not that we fault Julianne for wanting to hold hands with a hunk like Brooks. We mean, it’s almost been a year...
