Sisters Kicked Out Of Mall For Wearing ‘Profane’ Breast Cancer Hats

ABC News reports that three sisters were kicked out of a mall in suburban Philadelphia after refusing to remove hats that expressed their hatred of breast cancer with a four-letter expletive.

Sisters Zakia and Tasha Clark were visiting the King of Prussia Mall Sunday. They were joined by a third sister, Makia Underwood, while they shopped for dresses to wear to their mother’s funeral. She had passed away just the week before after a battle with breast cancer.

Undoubtedly feeling highly emotional, Zakia and Tasha Clark decided to wear hats emblazoned with the words “FU*K CANCER”, featuring a pink ribbon for the third letter in the four-letter expletive.

When made aware of the sister’s headgear, mall security guards asked the sisters to remove their hats. After refusing to do so, all three sisters were ejected from the mall. The mall manager, Robert Hart, says that although he sends condolences to the Clark family, the mall is still a family place where the code of conduct does not tolerate use of profane language.

Explains Hart, “The mall is first and foremost a family destination. Certain words and images, whether obvious or suggested, spoken or written on clothing, are considered profane and can offend many people.”

Zakia Clark defends her and her sister’s choice to not remove their hats, citing the clothing articles for sale in the mall that either feature suggestive images or phrases or that feature a swear work in plain view. The sisters maintain that their hats’ offending word is the only one strong enough to express the sisters’ feelings about cancer.
