While Skins US is pretty much the best thing ever, it tends to wander into inappropriate-land. Show-runner Bryan Elsley has said on numerous occasions that he is committed to portraying characters that make mistakes and aren’t easily defined – and one particular storyline had “mistake” written all over it. And no, we’re not talking about the Tony/Teafling, either, though that qualifies, too. No, at the moment we’re talking about the “what were they thinking”-ness that was the Chris/Tina hook-up.

As cringe-inducing as that relationship was, age-inappropriate relationships are pretty much a staple of television. Some classic TV shows have featured some fairly non-cool age differences. Here are just a few:

Cara Lynn and Greg (Big Love):
This relationship between Cara Lynn and her decade-and-a-half older teacher totes gave us the willies. Then again, maybe not so bad in comparison to her previous storyline, where she almost entered into a plural marriage at the age of 14... Yikes, this girl needs some big sister-type counseling, stat!

Pacey and Tamara (Dawson’s Creek):
A classic entry in the “hot for teacher” TV trope, Pacey dated his much-older instructor on the first season of Dawson’s Creek. Those crazy Creek-ers! Their vocab was so great, but their judgment so poor!

Buffy and Angel (Buffy the Vampire Slayer):
This may go down in history as one of the biggest age differences in all of television relationship-dom. As in, the vampire Angelus was 241 years old when he started dating the 16-year-old Buffy. Umm, yeah we’d say that’s a big difference...But considering he’s vampire and she's a vampire slayer, age is the least of their worries.
