Last episode, Gretchen wrote a single titled "The Time Is Now." During his radio show, Slade’s co-host, Kelly, played the song for him. Slade was confused at first, until he realized who was singing. “What’s this about?” he asked Kelly. Then he heard the “marry me” chorus.
After Slade starts to tear up, Kelly tells him, “This was a complete setup for you.” Then she informs him that Gretchen’s song didn’t play on air at all. “Go to your girl,” Kelly says. “She’s waiting for you, and you have to give her your answer.”
Slade slips into a tux and he and Gretchen take a helicopter to the roof of a skyscraper.
In a Marilyn Monroe-inspired ensemble, Gretchen then proposes to Slade. After apologizing for being scared the previous year, Gretchen says, “I hope you’ll say yes. I hope you’ll marry me.”
Instead of answering, Slade drops to one knee. “It would be an honor and a privilege to have you as my wife,” he tells her. Excuse us. We have something in our eye.
