Sneak Peek! Top 6 Discuss Team Cha-Cha-Cha for DWTS Season 12 Week 7

It’s Week 7 of Dancing With the Stars Season 12, which means it’s time for — dun, dun, DUN — double dances. That’s right. You thought Kirstie Alley had stamina problems with one dance? Well, now she has two. Lucky for her, the second dance this week is the Team Cha-Cha-Cha Challenge, where the six remaining dancers split into two teams and compete for extra points from the judges.

The Cha-Cha-Cha was Kirstie’s first dance of the season and it was called her best. So she and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were excited — to put it mildly — when told by On the Red Carpet that they would be doing that style for the team dance.

Kirstie: “It's a Cha-Cha!”
Maks: “Oh, my Jesus baby Christ, thank God!"
Kirstie: "Yes! Oh, I love the Cha-Cha!"
Maks: "Oh, thank God!"

Maks puts his head down between his knees, as if he’s just been told his X-rays are cancer-free. However, the downside of a team dance is that Kirstie now has to work with other people to create something cohesive. "That's going to be difficult for me,” she says. "I want everybody to finally witness what I deal with," Maks says, laughing. "I will be in the back, sitting quietly, enjoying everybody else losing it." That’s so odd to hear from Maks, since he’s the one who has a mini-tantrum every season.

Two people not losing it so far this week are Kendra Wilkinson & Louis van Amstel. Louis revealed that they will be dancing the Tango as well as the Cha-Cha-Cha. @LouisVanAmstel tweeted, “Both @KendraWilkinson and I r very excited about the group dance and our team members!!!lol...” We don’t know who they have yet, but Kirstie & Maks could be part of their team.

Louis told On the Red Carpet that he and Kendra were either going to do Tango or Paso Doble as their main dance — and they were hoping for the Paso because of their song — but they ended up with the Tango. “Just finished the tango w @KendraWilkinson she's doing awesome,” he tweeted on Wednesday. “Even though we have to b in close hold its gonna have some surprising moves!”

And even Louis is feeling the heat of double dances, tweeting, “Wow, the work load of dwts has just gone to another level.Double dances, late nights, long hours, more of everything and yet,its so exciting.”

Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas are also excited for this week — and they actually did get the Paso Doble. They both hated their Quickstep song, “Walkin’ on Sunshine,” but this week they are thrilled with their music (although they won’t reveal the title). "This is going to be my favorite number," Chelsea told On the Red Carpet.

Romeo Miller is doing a lot of traveling this week since his new movie, Jumping the Broom, is opening on May 6. But he will have to find time to rehearse his Samba with Chelsie Hightower. "That could be a lot of fun," he said, but he still thinks their Titanic Waltz was the best dance ever. It did give Chelsie her first-ever 10 on DWTS, but she only gives Romeo’s kiss an 8.

Ralph Macchio & Karina Smirnoff said their plan for this week is not to fall and to make sure their costumes are not in the way. Ralph reiterates that their Paso Doble coat trip was a mishap, not a mistake, so they just need to keep working hard and doing what they were already doing.

Kym Johnson wrote in her OK! magazine blog that she and Hines Ward will be dancing the Tango this week. "I think that’ll be a good one for Hines," she wrote, adding, "We also have a team dance, the first time we all dance together as a team. Which is really good fun, so I’m looking forward to that as well. We’ll have six left after [Tuesday's elimination], so three on each time and we all do a dance together, which is always really good fun. From now on in, we do two dances a week, so the pressure starts to pick up. This is when the competition really starts."

DWTS co-host Brooke Burke has been down the two-dance road and she got through it, winning the Season 7 Mirror Ball trophy with Derek Hough. "It gets really tough from here on out with the double dances and there's no way to prepare for it," Brooke told On the Red Carpet. "And every week you think, 'Oh my gosh, I'm never gonna learn this,' and then somehow your body kicks in and you get through it."

But they never get through it without some quality drama along the way! Expect more tears, fights, and frustrations as we head into the May 24 finale.
