Because there was no elimination last week, Week 7 marked the culmination of two weeks' worth of dancing — and as far as we're concerned, Snooki knocked it out of the park both weeks. The judges agreed, giving the "squirrel monkey" of the dance floor solid 9s across the board for both dances.
Snooks was everything we like this show to be about: a non-dancer who dedicated herself to improving every week, going from so-so to true contender, at least in terms of technique and performance. Plus, she had a bit of a redemption arc going. This was her chance to show the world how much she's grown up since her Jersey Shore days, and there's no question that this former party animal is now a fierce, fun, and mature mama.
So, why'd she lose out? It must be that she wasn't earning the votes. We were totally charmed by her, but maybe America didn't agree. Perhaps people were holding on to their old anti-Jersey Shore prejudices?
Of course, it's also possible that she fell victim to a classic middle-of-the-pack problem. Her judges' scores weren't enough to save her on their own, but they were pretty good, so it's possible that people who liked her thought she'd be safe, and spent their votes on lower scorers like charming Bill Engvall and Jack Osbourne.
What do you think: Was it time for Snooki to go home, or do you agree that this is a tragic loss for the season?
