Good news, So You Think You Can Dance fans! It’s been nearly a year since the tenth season of SYTYCD concluded, naming Amy Yakima and Du-Shaunt 'Fik-Shun' Stegall America’s best female and male dancers, respectively, but Season 11 is right around the corner!
During last year’s Season 10 finale, Nigel Lythgoe announced that the FOX reality staple had been renewed for an eleventh season, and we’re thrilled to tell you that Season 11 is scheduled to kick off tonight, May 28, with a two-hour premiere starting at 8 p.m. ET.
And if you’re worried that SYTYCD might be a bit stale after ten seasons on TV, we’re even more psyched to tell you about the competition’s new Justin Bieber-related twist! Yes, we’re aware that the Biebs isn’t really one of the most likable guys these days, but his new ties with SYTYCD are actually pretty cool.
Starting tonight and running through the four audition episodes, Justin and his choreographer, Nick DeMoura, will introduce top dance crews (two at a time) from across the country that will vie for a spot on the season finale.
Each week, once the crews show viewers what they’re capable of, two separate hashtags will be created which viewers can use to tweet their favorite of the crews. When the audition phase is over all of the tweets will be tallied and the most popular crew overall will be invited to perform on the finale.
Does this new twist make you more excited for the SYTYCD Season 11 premiere? Tell us where you stand below and don’t forget to tune in tonight!
