Dance Moms' Christi vs. Katherine Heigl
In case you missed it, former Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl decided to take to the blogosphere and rant about how awful Dance Moms is, earlier this week. But now, one of the moms is fighting back, and she’s arguably doing it with more grace than Katherine.
When a radio host told mom Christi Lukasiak about Katherine’s comments that the show is “belittling,” “demeaning,” and that the only thing the little girls were missing was a pole, the dance mom made what we think is a pretty awesome point: “I recall Katherine Heigl being in a movie about sleeping with an older man when she was about 12, so..."
The movie Christi is referring to is probably My Father, the Hero, which came out in 1994, when Katherine was just 16 years old. Though it was only implied, her character is pretending that her much older father is actually her lover to impress a boy.
On the other hand, one could argue that Katherine was playing a character, whereas the 7- to 14-year-olds on Dance Moms are wearing revealing outfits in real life. Then again, if ballet costumes are demeaning, Katherine Heigl may want to take her case up with the New York City Ballet.
Who do you think has the better point here?
Dance Moms is all new on Tuesday, February 7 at 9pm ET/PT on Lifetime.
