So You Think You Can Dance will be undergoing some dramatic changes next year, with executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe taking to Twitter to announce that the weekly results show — a SYTYCD staple since the show's premiere — will be cut, consolidating the show into a single-night format, as TVLine reports.
"Fox [has] canceled the results show so I will have to change the format of #SYTYCD,” Nigel tweeted. "At least we have [a ninth] season at the end of May.”
But even after this surprising revelation, Nigel maintains that he's not upset with the network. "I'm certainly not mad at FOX — they have supported SYTYCD FOR 9 seasons," he said. "With the help of [Fox executive] Mike Darnell. I think we have some great new ideas."
Nigel also reminded his followers that the hunt for new talent kicks off next week in Atlanta — we're excited to see the new contestants!
