Host Cat Deeley and resident judge Nigel Lythgoe share a moment on stage as another year ends on So You Think You Can Dance.
Paula Van Oppen danced her way into So You Think You Can Dance’s Top 20 on Season 6, but the contemporary dancer declined the spot to take the role of Anna in the movie Burlesque.
We were sad to not see her move on in the competition, but the career move hasn’t impeded her success one bit. After dancing alongside Cher and Christina Aguilera in Burlesque, Paula went on to appear in the movie No Strings Attached and on Laurieann Gibson’s E! show The Dance Scene. Now, she landed another big gig.
Paula will be joining Robin Antin’s re-formed Pussycat Dolls. Robin (who was a guest judge on Season 8 of SYTYCD) has also recruited ex-Girlicious member Christina Sayers, professional cheerleaders Erica Jenkins and Vanessa Curry, and former Paradiso girl Lauren Bennett. The group will receive their television debut on February 5th, during the Super Bowl, in an ad for GoDaddy.
Not sure if the resurrection of the Pussycat Dolls will survive without front lady Nicole Scherzinger, but at least we know that with peeps like Paula on board the dancing is sure to be good.
Congrats Paula!
