Nothing gives us the warm fuzzies quite like some quality parent-child bonding time, especially when pops and his kid are two of the biggest TV executives around. Best known for reality powerhouses So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol, Nigel and Simon Lythgoe are spending their father-son time in a production studio — combining their dance and television know how to bring America a brand new kind of reality dance series.
According to Deadline, the father and son duo are ready to roll out their latest project, A Chance to Dance, a joint endeavor between Nigel Lythgoe Productions and Legacy Productions, produced for Ovation.
A Chance to Dance will follow former Royal Ballet dancers Michael Nunn and William Trevitt — known as the “BalletBoyz” — as they tackle the ambitious project of forming their own American dance company. Viewers will get a VIP pass to watch the two build their company from the ground up, as we see them audition and train their roster of fledgling professionals.
Nigel and Simon couldn’t be more excited to bring this type of programming to Ovation TV, a network that “truly speaks to [their] artistic passions.” Simon says that A Chance to Dance is “unlike any other competition show on television.”
A Chance to Dance is set for it’s world debut on Ovation on August 17th. We guess we have a new TV addiction to look forward to this summer.
We can’t wait! Bring on more dancing!
