Also endearingly referred to as “Nasty Nigel,” the co-founder of Big Red 2 Entertainment, Nigel Lythgoe is a director, producer, choreographer, philanthropist, and former dancer whose projects include the UK’s Pop Idol as well as America’s So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol. For his work he received the prestigious Governors Award for Idol Gives Back, a special that Nigel executive produced.
More recently, Nigel has joined up with Adam Shankman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Katie Holmes to establish the Dizzy Feet Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to talented, underprivileged youth who aspire to become professional dancers. So far, having raised over $300,000, the Foundation has provided scholarships to nine dancers to attend some of the most prestigious dance institutions in the nation.
