So You Think You Can Dance is gearing up for its eleventh season to kick off this Tuesday, May 28, and the bigwigs over at the FOX reality staple are determined to keep things fresh. And so they’re introducing a new element to the dance competition courtesy of Canadian pop sensation-turned-bad boy Justin Bieber and Justin’s choreographer, Nick DeMoura.
Per a FOX press release and the video above, Nick the Biebs will be on SYTYCD’’s two-hour premiere to introduce a new facet of the competition: dance crews! They will kick things off by introducing top crews from across the country that will vie for a spot on the season finale. This interesting twist will take effect in tonight’s premiere, when Justin and Nick will unveil the first two dance crews who will compete for the coveted finale spot.
Once the crews show viewers what they’re capable of, two separate hashtags will be created which viewers can use to tweet their favorite of the crews. This dance crew twist will be a part of each of the four audition episodes, and once the audition phase is over all of the tweets will be tallied and the most popular crew overall will be invited to perform on the finale.
We applaud SYTYCD for trying to keep things new and interesting, but how do you feel about having controversial Bieber on the show? Tell us your thoughts below and don’t forget to watch the SYTYCD Season 11 premiere tonight!
So You Think You Can Dance Season 11 premieres May 28 on FOX at 8 p.m. ET.
