True Blood Songs: Music From Season 6, Episode 2 — “The Sun”

True Blood Season 6 is coming our way. During the first few seasons of the HBO show there were quite a few tunes throughout each show but, these days, it seems they concentrate more on the storyline than the music. Some say the plot is getting convoluted but we are all in when it comes to this show, no matter what!

On last night’s True Blood Season 6, Episode 2, entitled “The Sun,” there were three songs we did note for downloading when we get the chance. One was a song by The Naked and Famous, aptly titled “The Sun” (download on iTunes). It seems to us the sun is more apropos to the next episode, during which Bill is shown greeting the sun with no dire consequences despite his status as a vampire. Although he did have that dreamscape sequence thing with Lillith in the sunny landscape of his mind.

Another song featured on episode two was by Buddy Miller & Jim Lauderdale, who are described on their record label’s web site as “treasures of the roots and country music scene.” The song, called “I Lost My Job Of Loving You (Bill Compton’s theme song?),” had the perfect Zydeco beat to be featured in the sultry town of Bon Temps, Louisiana. The third song was by a band called Big Bad Johns. It’s interesting to note that if you look up the song, “This Kinda Party,” it’s not yet featured on iTunes. There is, however, a very low quality, live rendition of it on YouTube. Perhaps this is an up and coming band.

What did you think of the music on last night’s episode of True Blood?
