Sophia Abraham’s Grandmother Stormie Reacts: “I Am Not Trying to Get Custody”

Yesterday we reported that Stormie Clark, the mother of Farrah Abraham’s departed baby daddy, Derek Underwood, was offering to take care of Sophia following the Teen Mom star’s recent extreme behavior.

In the past year alone Farrah’s been arrest for a DUI, has filmed skin flick Farrah Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom, attended a variety of EXXXOTICA conventions, and even had a brief stay in rehab.

Stormie has been watching from the sidelines in horror (since Farrah’s basically kept Sophia away from Derek’s family since she was born), and now she is willing to step in and help care for the 4 year old.

Teen Mom fans were very vocal in the comments section, and Stormie herself even jumped into the Wetpaint Entertainment comments to answer some lingering questions.

“I would like to clear a few things up here,” she wrote. “First and foremost, all I care about is Sophia's well being. There are always two sides to every story, and unfortunately my side of the truth has purposely not been aired.”

Apparently Farrah told Derek that he was not the father of Sophia before his untimely passing, so his family was under the same impression. Stormie then asked Farrah for a paternity test which she first shot down and then took with Derek’s sister Kassy.

Stormie claims that Farrah’s mother Debra “wanted to keep Sophia all to herself.”

And this grandmother just wants to be able to be a part of Sophia’s life.

“I did not, and never would keep money from my own granddaughter,” she said. “I am not profiting off of this article, and I could care less about being in ‘the limelight.’”

She also clarified that she’s not looking for custody of little Soph, but rather wants to be a positive influence in her life.

“I am not trying to get custody of Sophia,” she said. “I am just very concerned for her well being. Sophia is all that we have left of Derek, and while still grieving his loss, we would like to be able to see his only child. Derek, not knowingly, left behind such a precious gift from God.”

Honestly, we’re pretty moved by this grandmother’s touching words and hope Farrah will let Stormie be a part of Sophia’s life. Now that we know Storms isn’t trying to take Farrah’s daughter away from her, this is a much less controversial situation.

Do you think Farrah should let Sophia spend time with Stormie? Tell us below!
