Sophie Turner Scores Big New Role: Which Famous Figure Will She Play?
One of the breakout stars of Game of Throneshas been Sophie Turner, who portrays the tortured Sansa Stark. Sophie picked up her first starring film role last year for the thriller Another Me, due out in the US on August 22, and now she has picked up the lead role in Mary Shelley’s Monster, where she will play the titular role of the author of Frankenstein.
According to Deadline, the new take on Shelley’s life will tell the tale of a “young writer as she writes her seminal novel and is drawn into a Faustian bargain with her own ‘monster’ of an alter ego, who offers literary fame at a desperate personal cost.” With this and Another Me, which features Sophie's character being stalked by a doppelganger, it sure sounds like Sophie is trying to tell us something about the hidden personalities of people. Then again, she did recently say a “big change” is coming up for Sansa on GoT, so perhaps a new side of the eldest Stark will be revealed as well.
The new film costars Jeremy Irvine as Mary’s husband, and renowned poet, Percy Shelley, and Taissa Farmiga as Mary’s stepsister Claire Clairmont. The film is being directed by Coky Giedroyc, best known for his TV work on AMC’s The Killing and Showtime’s Penny Dreadful, and filming is set to begin later this year.
