The Originals Speculation: Does Klaus’s Hybrid Baby Bypass the Doppelganger Rule?

On the most recent episode of The Originals, Tyler revealed that Klaus’s hybrid baby has the ability to make hybrids — without a human doppelganger’s blood. Whoa. Talk about a game changer!

When we first met Klaus in Season 2 of The Vampire Diaries, he was on a mission to create a hybrid army, and he needed Elena’s human doppelganger blood. Without drinking the blood of the doppelganger, his hybrids became unstable and bled out. So imagine our surprise when Tyler created a perfectly normal hybrid using the blood of Klaus and Hayley’s unborn child. Does the doppelganger rule not apply to the baby hybrid?

In short, no. While we have yet to see any sort of clarification from Julie Plec, we’re speculating that Klaus’s child can bypass that bit of mythology. (Unless, of course, Hayley is a doppelganger.) After all, it was Esther who put the curse in place because she didn’t want Klaus to make any more hybrids. But how does the hybrid baby bypass Esther’s curse?

Perhaps the fact that hybrid baby was naturally conceived from a hybrid and werewolf with powerful lineage has something to do with the baby’s power. Honestly, we’re pretty sure this is “one of Nature’s loopholes,” right Sophie?

What do you think, Originals fans? Do you think Klaus and Hayley’s magic baby can bypass the doppelganger rule? Sound off in the comments!
