Pretty Little Liars Speculation: What Does Nathaniel Buzolic’s Dean Want With Spencer?

We can’t wait to see The Vampire Diaries Nathaniel Buzolic (RIP Kol Mikaelson) appear on Pretty Little Liars in Season 4B. Apparently, he will be playing the character of Dean, who will come to Rosewood to help Spencer (Troian Bellisario) whether she likes it or not. What is Dean’s deal? We speculate below.

Drug Abuse Counselor

You think the Liars have time to ace tests and stay out of “A”’s clutches?! This might not bother the other Liars too much, but it will apparently drive Spence to start popping pills to stay academically competitive. We wonder if Dean will be brought in as part of this ripped-from-the-headlines storyline. In the on-set pic Troian tweeted showing she and Nat together, Spence looks like she might be in breakdown mode again, sporting sweats and a messy ponytail (or is that just because Nat is going for her jugular?).

College advisor

Or does Dean even know about Spence’s little drug problem? Spence’s parents have already hired a college admissions advisor once for their daughter. We’re not sure if Brendan resigned the account after his client’s BFF was arrested for murder during their Cicero College visit, but he obviously needs some more help in getting through to Spencer. Perhaps, Dean represents the reinforcements. Dean’s character description as helping whether Spence wants it or not makes it sound as if he is a hire of the Hastings parentals.

Therapist extraordinaire

Spencer has had a tough couple of years. First, one of her best friends dies (supposedly). Then, she is harassed by this mysterious “A” character, and somehow ends up in committed to Radley. And that’s only what her parents know about. They know nothing about Toby’s seeming betrAyal, Ali’s apparent faked death, or the fact that “A” never stopped harassing their daughter. Regardless, Spencer could obviously use someone to talk to. Have the Hastings called in a full-time psychiatrist/life coach to help Spencer through this tough time? And, more importantly, do they know he is a vampire..?
