In this sneak peek for the winter premiere, we learn that a girl named Sara Harvey disappeared from a nearby town around the same time Alison originally went missing. Hanna’s theory: she is the person buried in Ali’s coffin. That’s pretty sound speculation, especially considering Sara was the same size and look as Alison. It would be pretty random to bring up a totally new character without some sort of payoff. Is Hanna barking up the wrong tree or is Sara the unlucky resident of Ali’s grave? And, if the latter is true, how did she get there?
Alison’s Twin Sister
Sara may look somewhat similarly to Alison, but that wouldn’t fool a DNA test. As Alison’s death was ruled a murder, there would have been extensive tests done on her corpse to determine both its identity and the cause of murder. Other than paying someone off, the only way we can think of to fool a coroner would be with the use of a handy, dandy twin — of the identical variety. Alison had such a convenience in the book series the television show is based on and there have been quite a few hints dropped over the seasons to suggest the show’s Ali has/had one, too. Is Ali’s twin sister the person buried six feet under?
If there is truth behind the “twin theory,” then there’s no hard proof that it isn’t really Alison buried in her own grave. The “Ali” that the Liars miraculously discovered alive in the Halloween episode could really be Ali’s twin sister, pretending to be Alison. We’re not sure why or how such a switcheroo would have gone down — and if it happened while both DiLaurentis sisters were alive, as well — but if there is something twinny going on in Rosewood, then there’s a 50/50 chance that the only person in Ali’s grave is Ali.
