Watch Spencer Lloyd Sing “A Broken Wing” in American Idol 2014, Austin Auditions (VIDEO)

Despite the lowest ratings ever in American Idol history, our favorite competition show is back and better than ever, having blown us away with its premiere on January 15. The combination of amazing contestant talent and chemistry between the judges made it the best episode we’ve seen in awhile... and we’re only getting started!

Tonight promises to be another great night on the show, as the auditions continue in Austin and move on to San Francisco. Will Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. meet the country’s next big superstar in one of these fair cities? Only time will tell!

It’s in Austin where the judges meet 19-year-old Spencer Lloyd, a strapping guy who immediately grabs J.Lo’s attention. (“You’re a pretty guy!” she exclaims. “The skin is gorgeous. The hair’s not bad!”) Though Harry can’t help but throw out a few snarky comments (that’s just his way, after all), he can see the potential in Spencer after his rendition of Colton Dixon’s “Never Gone.”

“You seem like a really sweet guy and you’re ridiculously handsome,” Harry says. “But the part that’s missing for me is that you’re just an OK singer. But, and I think about this stuff as a performer, you’re going to go out and you’re gonna sing. And whoever’s lined up next to you is going to have to deal with the deafening screams of your looks and your sweetness. And there’s something to be said for that.”

“Entertaining is keeping me engaged in what you’re doing,” adds Keith. “And you totally did that.”

Do you agree with the judges’ comments? Watch the video below!

What do you think of Spencer’s performance? Will he make it to the Top 31? Read our spoilers here!
