It’s been ages since we’ve heard anything substantial about The Walking Dead spin-off, but considering the show is scheduled to air some time in 2015, we think it’s about time AMC and the creative team behind this companion show got a move on it and started making things happen. TWD Season 4 will be over in less than two weeks, and we’re going to need something else to focus on until Season 5 bows in October 2014, right?
However, TWD executive producer Gale Anne Hurd sees no problem with the fact that development of the spin-off seems to be moving at a slow pace. In fact, she thinks it’s actually a good thing!
“Right now our focus is on The Walking Dead, and we’d rather have it slow and right then just be quick. We take it very seriously, and AMC has been terrific in understanding — all in good time,” Gale told Entertainment Weekly when they asked her about the spin-off.
We may not know what the proposed show will be about, but we know what it won’t be about. Previously TWD comic book creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman (who will also be involved in the spin-off) has said that this project will be completely independent of TWD, meaning none of the characters or places from TWD will appear on the new series.
Personally, we think there’s plenty of crossover potential between both shows, but if RK wants to keep them completely separate, then who are we to question his judgement?
