We're still trying to come to terms with the fact that Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) is going to be leaving Pretty Little Liars for spin-off Ravenswood come Halloween. We're excited to see Caleb have an even larger part in the new show, but the apparent demise of the Hanna/Caleb relationship breaks our heart every time we think about it. Why is Caleb the one who's leaving, as opposed to a less prominent character?

Executive producer Marlene King told TVLine that behind the scenes "it was always thought that Caleb would move over to Ravenswood," adding that once the viewers "get to know what Ravenswood is, they’ll understand why it was the right choice for him to take us into that world."
Umm... huh? Last we heard, Ravenswood "is" a town. Sure, a mysterious, potentially-cursed town, but a town all the same. What about that makes Caleb the perfect fit?
We've been trying to think of elements of Caleb's personality and history that makes his distinct from other Pretty Little Liars characters. Could the curse in Ravenswood be related to people whose parents abandoned them, or who had bad childhoods in general? Is there a technological element to Ravenwood that makes tech-savvy Caleb "the right choice ...to take us into that world?" Could he find some long-lost blood relation there?
Whatever the answer, we're very curious to find out!
