Are you sitting down? No seriously. Are you sitting down? Because The Hollywood Reporter just dropped a Glee spoiler bomb so huge, we’re really not sure what to make of it.
It’s pertains to Glee’s 100th episode, which is currently filming and set to air on March 18. First of all, we’ve just heard the episode has been extended to a special two-parter, meaning it will air on March 18 and 25. But what will really make your jaw drop is this: During Season 5, Episode 12: “110,” Sue Sylvester will get the glee club cancelled at McKinley High. Yes, cancelled. Glee club is over.
Now, Sue’s attempted this many times before, so we were at first skeptical that the disbandment of the New Directions would last more than one episode. But get this: After the New Ds get the boot, Glee is moving exclusively to New York City for “several consecutive episodes.”
No more Lima, at least, not for a while. THR is quick to note that glee club director Will (Matthew Morrison) is not leaving the series for good, but they don’t say a word about any of the newbies, including Ryder (Blake Jenner), Marley (Melissa Benoist), and Unique (Alex Newell). From what we can tell, they’re off the show for a while. But are they gone forever? It’s just too early to tell.
We’re actually pretty thrilled about this idea, but it worries us that THR didn’t include Santana (Naya Rivera) on their list of NYC kids. Hopefully that’s just an oversight. We can’t imagine NYC without her sassy snark.
What do you think of Glee’s huge plot twist? Is this New Direction — #RIPgleeclub — a good idea. Or was disbanding the New Ds a terrible choice? Head below and sound off!
