According to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Marlene King said that Ali’s homecoming would not only affect her relationships with the Liars, but also the Liars relationships with their significant others: "Season 5 is shaping up to be emotionally the most complex season we've had so far," Marlene teased. Yikes! How will Ali’s homecoming have such an effect on the Liar’s romantic lives? Will their significant others be upset that this secret was kept from them, or will it be just another secret they will have to keep from them as Season 5 progresses?
However it plays out, executive producer Oliver Goldstick told THR on the red carpet that, come the new season, the Liars "are in a permanent state of flinch." Sounds painful. Will this be a reaction to Alison’s homecoming, a reaction to other people’s reactions to Ali’s homecoming, or a reaction to something else?
According to Sasha Pieterse, Ali’s homecoming with respect to the Liars is going to be a rocky one: "Alison's totally changed. They don't know anything about what's she's been through yet," Sasha said. "Welcoming her back is going to be harder than it should be." We can only imagine. There’s no rulebook for reintegrating back into society after a faked death.
How do you think Ali’s homecoming will cause tension in the Liars’ love lives? Will the Liars be able to accept her again as one of their best friends? Sound off in the comments below!
