As excited as we are for Ravenswood, one of the things we’ve been dreading in the inevitable goodbye between Hanna and Caleb. Over the last four seasons on Pretty Little Liars, we watched Caleb evolve from a hood rat hacker to the world’s most perfect boyfriend, and frankly, we’re not ready to see him and Hanna break up.
According to Tyler Blackburn, we won’t have to — at least, not yet. When TVLine caught up with the Ravenswood star, they chatted about the possibility for other love interests in Ravenswood. “There are definitely possibilities,” Tyler said. “But it’s complex; it’s not as easy as one would hope. There’s definitely room for it but nothing happens right away… Hanna and Caleb are together in the beginning, for sure, and then it doesn’t really go away.”
We’re happy to hear the Ravenswood Powers That Be are putting romance on the backburner for now. After all, we have star-crossed lovers Luke (Brett Dier) and Remy (Britne Oldford) to keep us entertained. Besides, with a giant curse looming over his head, we doubt Caleb is thinking about girlfriends.
When Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Tyler’s Ravenswood co-star Nicole Gale Anderson at the Pretty Little Liars Halloween episode screening on October 15, we asked if Miranda and Caleb’s friendship could turn into something more.
“Potentially, but there’s a curse hanging over their head, so there’s definitely a larger element that kind of keeps them together,” she said. “I think that, initially, it’s just about watching each other’s backs and just being there for one another. Then something that Miranda experiences at the end of [the first episode] definitely allows Caleb to really want to stay around Ravenswood.”
According to Tyler, Caleb and Miranda “have this weird connection — it’s not necessarily romantic, but it’s almost like they’ve known each other before.” This likely has something to do with the deadly curse they’re both part of — and why their names and faces show up on old Ravenswood gravestones. Creepy!
Ultimately, Caleb stays in Ravenswood to help Miranda at Hanna’s request. She gives her blessing for Caleb to stay at the end of the Pretty Little Liars Halloween episode. In other words, grab your tissues Haleb fans!
