Pretty Little Liars Spoilers: Will Caleb Return? Marlene King Says the “Door is Open”

As eager as we are for the Pretty Little Liars winter premiere (Season 4, Episode 14: “Who’s in the Box”) to come, there’s a part of us dreading it, as it will mean the departure of Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) to Ravenswood and the end of Haleb as we know them. Will we ever see Caleb in Rosewood again? PLL showrunner Marlene King talked to Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of his return...

“It’s a sad parting for Hanna and Caleb, but the actors are really excited for this journey that Tyler [Blackburn] is going on, and we’re leaving the door open,” Marlene said. “Rosewood and Ravenswood are only a 90-minute drive from each other, and we’re leaving that door open in terms of story as we go down the line.”

We like the hopeful, if not hesitant, sound of that. We know Hanna and Emily will be visiting Ravenswood, so maybe Caleb will be able to make his way back to Rosewood every once in awhile, too. It’s hard to speculate when so much of the Ravenswood setup is still a mystery. We’re guessing much of it has to do with how successful Ravenswood is in the ratings. We hate to say it, but if the show doesn’t last very long, the chances of Caleb returning to Rosewood sooner are much greater. It may be true that Ravenswood and Rosewood are only a 90-minute drive apart, but their sets (one in New Orleans and one in California) are considerably farther.

But we Haleb shippers still have the PLL Halloween episode and winter premiere to look forward to. Caleb is making his much-lamented departure in the latter, so plan your tissues purchases accordingly.

Are you glad to hear the door is still open for Caleb’s return? Do you want to see him back in Rosewood from time to time, or would you rather he make a clean break? Sound off in the comments below!
