The Originals Spoilers: Casting Hybrid Baby For Season 1 Finale — It’s a [SPOILER]
We have to admire The Originals’ ability to resist exploring the easily melodramatic storyline of the miracle baby birth in its first season. Instead, the supernatural series has spent its time exploring the world of warring supernatural factions the baby will be born into. But, by season’s end, it’ll be time for the baby to be born — and the Originals production team is busy looking to cast the devil spawn…
According to Tammy Smith Casting, The Originals is looking for Caucasian babies to play the part of Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley’s (Phoebe Tonkin) daughter. That’s right: daughter. There won’t be any last-minute sex switcharoos. It will be a girl who will inherit the French Quarter from Klaus — that is, if he can hold onto it. When will the birth be going down? Well, as many as predicted, the babe will first be featured in the Season 1 finale.
As happy as we are that The Originals hasn’t used the baby’s protection and birth as a storyline crutch in its first season, we’re equally excited to see the baby affect the supernatural playing field in the second season. How will Hayley’s newfound werewolf family react to the baby’s birth? Do the witches still worry that she may bring about the end of all — or are they over that particular prophecy now that Celeste/Sabine admitted it was all part of her dastardly plan? And will Klaus be able to pull himself together long enough to be a good father? Such interesting questions. We can’t wait to explore the sure-to-be complicated answers.
Phoebe is totally on board with us. She told TV Fanaticat PaleyFest: “I’m really excited to see what kind of a mother Hayley’s going to be and what kind of a father Klaus is going to be. I want to see Klaus changing dirty diapers.”

The Originals airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
