If you haven’t heard the news, Colin — famous for his starring role as Sheriff Jack Carter on Syfy’s Eureka — has been cast as “a strong and disciplined head of a community militia and surrogate father to his young trainees who will do anything to protect his town.” Though early descriptions of his character described Tripp as the season’s villain, the show seems to be backtracking a bit on the character’s villainous status. Colin described his character to ComicBook.com as having “a heart of gold” and Matt Donovan seems to like him, which seems a mark of good character.
Unfortunately, we’re not sure how long Tripp will be around for. When asked about the possibility of starring on Arrow or its upcoming spin-off The Flash, Colin said: “Well, it's more than easy because the showrunner on The Flash is the showrunner from Eureka. So Jaime [Paglia]'s already called me and he's like ‘I've got some stuff I want you to do!’ I was like, ‘Okay. Just send it up, I'll come.’ So I would expect to do it sometime in the next year.” Uh-oh. That doesn’t bode well for TVD’s Tripp!
Then again, it’s not impossible to film two shows at once (just ask The Originals’ Daniel Gillies). And Colin didn’t seem ready to write-off his TVD character. “You see, on Vampire Diaries you can die and then come back and then die again. That's how they do their thing!” So true, Colin. So true.
Do you think Tripp will be killed off quickly? Would you like to see Colin on The Flash? Sound off in the comments below!
