Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Damon’s “Big Moment With Another Lady” — Who Is It?

The Season 5 finale of Vampire Diaries is right around the corner — and it sounds like the episode totally belongs to Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). First, there was the tease that Damon will be putting on his “hero hair” for the climactic installment. Now, there’s the expectation that, following the ep, Damon’s “big moment with another lady” will be all anyone is talking about. Who is the lady in question?!

TV Guide teased that, though Damon and Elena will finally express their feelings for one another in the season finale, “it will be Damon's big moment with another lady in Mystic Falls that will have people talking after the finale airs.” Fascinating, no?

We’re guessing the “big moment” has less to do with romance and more to do with more dire issues — such as the disintegration of the Other Side. In fact, we think the woman in question might be Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham). After all, it sounds like it’s going to be a big episode for the Bennett witch, too. According to TV Guide, with the potential destruction of the Other Side, “perhaps Bonnie is headed to a new world — and she won’t be alone.” Will she and Damon both be heading to this “new world”? And, if so, does that Damon will die in the Season 5 finale? Some sort of sacrifice is often the result when the phrase “hero hair” is tossed around, and — if our speculation that Stefan dies in the penultimate episode is correct — then Damon may be desperate enough to do something drastic.

Our sleeper pick for the the woman in question is Katherine Pierce, who hasn’t been seen since she was swept into the scary vortex when trying to cross over to the Other Side. We’re not sure where that vortex leads — to this “new world,” perhaps — but, we know (read: hope) it’s only a matter of time before Katherine makes herself known again.

Catch the next episode of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, May 1 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
