The Originals Spoilers: Danielle Campbell on Davina’s “Developing” Powers
Not all of The Originalscast are old friends from The Vampire Diaries. One new and mysterious character is Davina (Danielle Campbell), a powerful teenage witch who everyone wants on their side. Currently, she seems to be firmly in Camp Marcel, but will that change? What did Danielle tell TV Fanatic about Davina’s powers and her “shocking” relationship with Marcel?
Just how powerful is Davina? According to Danielle, the teenage witch is still learning the extent of her powers: “[Davina] is definitely still getting used to her power and it’s definitely developing more and more each day, and she’s trying to learn how to use it,” she said.
We’re guessing, even in the midst of her learning process, Davina is quite powerful. Powerful enough for Marcel to want to keep her hidden away, at least. And powerful enough to be an important pawn in the power struggle between Klaus and Marcel. How does Davina feel about her attic lair? Is she trapped there against her will?
“I wouldn’t say it’s against her will, but — like any teenage girl — she wants to be with other people and wants to be in school and doing normal teenage things,” Danielle said.
And it seems Danielle and Marcel actor Charles Michael Davis get along just as swimmingly in real life: “Marcel is definitely who I have most of my scenes with so far, and it’s been a blast working with him,” said Danielle. “Charles is so great. We have a blast on set. We’re dancing - even when it gets to be like 1, 2 in the morning.” Aww.
We can’t wait to find out more about the dynamic between Davina and Marcel, and to see how Davina’s powers develop over the course of the series. We have a feeling Davina is going to do a lot of growing in the first season of The Originals - whether that includes growing her way over to Team Klaus remains to be seen...
What do you think Davina’s relationship with Marcel is like? Will Davina stay on Team Marcel? Share your theories in the comments below!
