There was no mention on last night’s The Vampire Diaries of where the soul of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) may have gone or how long it may be there. Only Matt has guessed that Katherine is occupying Elena’s body — and he’s getting babysat by Nadia. Basically, it could be a while before we see Elena again. What light did Nina have to spill on the situation?
"Elena is kind of gone, Katherine took over her body, so she's MIA and nobody knows, it's kind of like going missing, like getting kidnapped and the kidnapper leaving a note and saying that you're on vacation for indefinitely and, welp, nobody is going to look for you because they don't know you're gone," Nina told MTV News. "It's kind of a scary thing for her and it'll be interesting to see how long Katherine can get away with it."
It doesn’t sound like Elena will be back anytime soon. And, we have to admit, Katherine is doing a pretty good job of pretending to be Elena. Elena is nothing if not predictable and, if Katherine lets up on the smug looks to herself over the shoulder of Stefan-hugs, than she might be able to keep Elena on an indefinite vacation forever. She should probably have Nadia stop grilling Matt, though. He’s had a lot of experience being a pawn and, apparently, is starting to pick up on nefarious schemes more quickly these days. Good for him!
Nina also talked to MTV News about who else on the cast would make a good Katherine should the 500-year-old vampire decide to hop into someone else’s body.
"I think Candice would do a really good job," Nina laughed, submitting Candice Accola for proposal. "Katherine Caroline. That would be cool." We agree! And, if things keep going the way of Steroline, then we could see how Katherine might commandeer the Barbie Vampires body. She is seriously focused on getting Stefan back.
How long do you think Elena will be gone? Do you think Candice would make a good Katherine? Do you think Elena would consider hopping into Caroline’s body? Sound off in the comments below!
