“Enzo has stayed at Augustine for all these decades so whatever Damon went through, he went through tenfold,” Caroline says. Yikes! Because Damon went through a lot. “So Enzo certainly has a chip on his shoulder. But at the same time, he has no friends so Damon is sort of his only friend.” Sounds like there’s hope yet for our dreams of bromance between the vamp-prisoner friends — but it won’t all be puppies and rainbows.
“As Damon is trying to recover from the memory of Augustine and realizing Enzo is in his life again, Enzo becomes the devil on Damon's shoulder and is the voice of temptation. So he does become a bit of a villain,” Caroline continues. Well, at least we get more Enzo on our screens. That’s gotta be a good thing, right?
As for how Elena feels about all of these crazy developments, it seems that her own lab rat experience will have a wildly different affect on her than it did on Damon — who, admittedly, was tortured for five years vs. her presumably one episode: “It actually strangely has the opposite effect on her and as she starts to learn more about why Augustine exists, she has a surprising take-away from it,” Caroline says. “That's going to cause some friction between Damon and her.” We’re not sure what kind of effect other than Anger! torture might have on Elena, but we’re intrigued to find out...
Are you as eager as we are to see the Damon/Enzo reunion — no matter how awkward it may be? And how do you think Elena will react to her turn as Dr. Wes’ vampire lab rat? Sound off in the comments below!
