Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers: Episode 17 Won’t Be a Flash-Forward, But…

Grey’s Anatomy’s return is so close we can almost hear the crash carts being rolled around the hospital, but what we’re most excited for? Not the next episode (Episode 13), although we’ll be happy to watch it. What we’re really ready for is to see Episode 17, because from what we’ve already heard about it, it’s going to be crazy!

What we know so far? Episode 17 is going to include a “what-if” sequence that may or may not involve a child’s birthday party — the child in question is still up for discussion. And according to a new spoiler what Episode 17 is not is a flash-forward.

“Shonda Rhimes is definitely cooking up something unorthodox, but I’m told it’s not a flash-forward episode,” TV Line’s Michael Ausiello revealed.

Which means nothing that we see in this sequence is something that actually happens, which could be a good thing if it’s something we totally hate. There are a lot of parts of Grey’s that we wish were part of a “what-if” scene — like the plane crash that killed Mark and Lexie. Yeah, we’re still not over that one.

We do know that Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) will be instrumental in the scene, and that a much older Zola has been cast. How do these things fit together? No idea. But take a deep breath, because we’ll know soon!
