There are a lot of questions hanging in the air about how ABC will handle contestant Eric Hill’s appearance on The Bachelorette Season 10. The handsome 32-year-old passed away on Wednesday, April 23 after a paragliding accident left him critically injured, a few weeks after he had left the show.
Show boss Mike Fleiss weighed in on the strategy for how they’ll show Eric’s footage on the show. “We’re all just devastated. He was such a vibrant, young dude. He was. It’s tragic,” the show’s creator Mike Fleiss told E! News at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23. “He was such a young guy who lived life to the fullest. I couldn’t believe it when I heard. I’m still in shock. We’re all in shock. This transcends everything, certainly a television show.”
Andi Dorfman must’ve gotten a great first impression of Eric, because the Salt Lake City man got the first one-on-one date, in Episode 2 on a beach in Ventura. Shots from the date show them flipping around, playing games in the sand, and having a picnic. But while he got a rose on that date, his time on the show didn’t last much longer.
According to Reality Steve, Eric makes it through Episode 3’s group date in Santa Barbara, participating in the Boyz II Men sing-off challenge on the “suits” team. However, he was eliminated in Connecticut on Episode 4. While Steve hasn’t shared the details of his exit, the spoiler guru does say that it was before a Rose Ceremony, meaning something must have happened for Andi to send him home on the spot.
The Bachelorette Season 10 premieres on May 19 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, then reverts to the regular 8 p.m. timeslot on May 26. We’re not sure yet how the show will acknowledge Eric’s tragic passing, but we’ll certainly be thinking of him for a long time coming.
How do you think the show should handle Eric’s appearance and exit? What tributes would you like to see to him?
