The Originals Spoilers: How Long Can Klaus Fool Marcel? Joseph Morgan Says…

Throughout three episodes of The Originals, Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) has had his ups and downs — especially when it comes to protégé-turned-frenemy Marcel Gerard (Charles Michael Davis).

At the end of the day, both vamps want to be the king of New Orleans, but for now, they’re reluctantly cooperating. In Episode 3: “Tangled Up in Blue” (October 15), Klaus arranged for a witch named Katie to cause a stir in the French Quarter so that Sophie Deveraux (Daniella Pineda) could try to locate his brother Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies). Unfortunately, she instead wanted to kill Marcel, so Klaus had to step in and snap her neck (natch). Now that Klaus has saved his life, Marcel feels indebted to his sire once more.

“It's going to be harder to pull the wool over Marcel's eyes, but that's what makes it interesting because there's this game between the two of them," Joseph told TV Guide. "They really don't trust each other, and they're really sussing each other up. But there are still moments where the cards are laid on the table and then they go back to playing the game. Klaus is going to have to constantly understand that Marcel does know what's going on and change accordingly."

This may have to do with Davina Claire (Danielle Campbell) forbidding Marcel from unstaking Elijah and giving him back to his family. She wants to know how to kill Original vampires before helping Klaus and his sister, Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt), but it remains to be seen if Marcel will agree to that.

Joseph hinted that there will be a combination of “love and resentment” seen between the Marcel and Klaus this season. Their family ties will come out, and chances are it won’t be easy for either of them, given their long history.

"I just filmed a very emotional, family-oriented scene,” Joseph dished. “You'll see a lot of their love and resentment and 1,000 years of pain and conflict.”

What do you think will happen? Will Klaus keep fooling Marcel, or will he slip up? Sound off below, and catch the next episode on Tuesday, October 22 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
