The Originals Spoilers: What Did Klaus and Hayley Name Their Baby?

Going into the Season 1 finale of The OriginalsSeason 1, Episode 22 (“From a Cradle to a Grave”) — one of the most important questions we needed to get an answer to was what Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) would name the newborn hybrid baby. What is the bundle of joy’s name? Read on to find out!

Warning: If you have not seen the Season 1 finale of The Originals, turn away now!

The witches ended up taking the baby after helping Hayley through childbirth and then slitting her throat right in front of Klaus. After Elijah (Daniel Gillies) joined his brother in the church and they had a little cry over Hayley’s demise, they set out looking for the witches — only to later be joined by Hayley who was transitioning into a hybrid after dying with her baby’s blood still running through her system. They found the witches and were able to save the baby, though they knew there was only one thing to do: send her away.

The decision seemed like a hard one for the new parents, though they were able to concoct an elaborate ruse to make everyone think the baby had been killed. Klaus drove out to a field to give the baby to — WAIT FOR IT — Rebekah (Claire Holt). That’s right, Auntie Bex will be taking the baby away from New Orleans. But we still didn’t have a name!

After delivering a heartfelt goodbye, Klaus decided to give his daughter the perfect name: Hope.
