Bachelor 2014: Who Is Eliminated Contestant Ashley Poe?

UPDATE 1/6/14: Ashley Poe took time out of the Season 18 Premiere to comfort Lauren Higginson, and maybe she didn't get the time she needed to show Juan Pablo what a great gal she is. Either way, he decided she wasn't the right lady for him, and she didn't get a rose in the first ceremony. Bummer.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE 9/11/13: Juan Pablo Galavis is just days away from welcoming a herd of 25 beautiful women to the Bachelor Mansion, and we are jealous beyond belief. One of the most gorgeous gals getting set to go on a journey of amor with JPG? Ashley Poe.

We can already tell that the mid-20s Texan is going to catch Juan Pablo’s eye — or, at least his attention. Why? Well, besides her obvious beauty, the smiley gal is a first grade school teacher at EP Rayzor Elementary. As if we could forget, JP is the proud papa of 4-year-old Camila with ex Carla Rodriguez, so he definitely wants a gal who likes kids.

And lest we somehow can’t recall, the Bachelor is a Miami by way of Venezuela by way of New York resident, with little splashes of other towns thrown in. And Ashley is right there with him! She was born in Honolulu and then moved to New York, Oklahoma, and El Paso, before settling in her hometown of Lampasas, Texas — all before she was in second grade.

After graduating high school in 2005, Ashley moved to Denton, Texas, to attend the University of North Texas and graduated with a BA in 2009. In the past, she worked at Tour 18 Golf Course in Texas, and slung drinks at bikini bar Twin Peaks. Oh yeah, and in 2010, she competed in Miss Texas USA as the representative for Denton County.

These days, Ashley’s still got a billion jobs outside of teaching. When she’s not kicking it in the classroom with a bunch of six-year-olds, Ashley works as a 1st grade trainer for the Denton district, teaching teachers how to teach math and representing her grade in setting curriculum for new teachers.

Last year, she was nominated for the Texas Outstanding Early-Career Teaching Award. In the future, besides marrying Juan Pablo of course, her goal is to obtain a Masters degree from Harvard University “and to use [her] experiences to empower others to further their education and never give up on their dreams.”

Oh yeah, and according to a very detailed list, Ashley’s loves include: traveling, the water (she wants to learn to surf), TJ Maxx (hear that Des? Shopping buddy!), cooking, music, her family, crosses, Fall, Thanksgiving, pampering herself, and doing philanthropy. In 2010, she did the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure, and she also works with Smile Train, helping raise money for kids with cleft palates.

“My next personal goal in life is to run a marathon (which will definitely be a journey on its own!) with the ultimate goal of bringing a marathon to DFW to bring awareness to Lung Cancer while raising money for the American Lung Association in hopes to provide free lung screenings as well as raise the necessary funds for new research,” Ashley says of her other future plans. (You know, after that Harvard Masters and nabbing JPG.)

Beautiful, smart, good with kids, passionate, philanthropic, and driven? To the left, other 24 girls.
