Pretty Little Liars Spoilers: “Nerdy Mona” Returns in Season 4 Finale Flashback!
We’re so used to seeing the sassy, seemingly omniscient Mona (Janel Parrish) on Pretty Little Liars, it’s always a bit jarring to encounter “Nerdy Mona” from days past, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love her! Luckily, it seems that we will be getting another “Nerdy Mona” flashback in the Season 4 finale. What is going down in the flashback scene?
“Nerdy Mona for the win,” Janel Instagrammed on October 23, along with a snapshot of herself on set in full “Nerdy Mona” hair and wardrobe (aka pigtails, prepster button-up, and sweater). Given that PLL finales are generally chock-full of answers, we’re wondering what will go down in this flashback scene. We assume Alison (Sasha Pieterse) will also be in it, as PLL showrunner Marlene King also sent out a tweet from set last night reading, “On set w @SashaaPieterse and @JMeilanixo. Filming an epic scene for the season of Answers.”
If you recall, Ali bullied Mona terribly before she disappeared. Now that Ali is resurfacing, could she finally give Mona the apology she deserves? Or, perhaps, Ali realized the error of her ways before she faked her own death, going to Mona to find help from someone her pursuer would least expect. Whether it happened back in the day, or is going down now, we wouldn’t be surprised if Ali started looking at her past treatment of Mona in a new light. Pretty Little Liars executive producer Oliver Goldstick said that Ali will feel “remorse” in Season 4B.
“You'll see in her appearances in 4B when she returns there's some remorse and some conscience that she didn't possess in the flashbacks that we've seen,” Oliver said. “There is some remorse about her behavior which led to the situation that she's in.” A remorseful Ali? That may be more surprising than her miraculous return from the dead.
