While we had speculated that it could be Rumplestiltskin’s father, Colin, who is set to be introduced on the show in Episode 8, or perhaps even someone like Tiger Lily, it turned out to be someone we already knew — Wendy Darling.
This revelation came about as Belle and Ariel confronted two new Home Office villains as they tried to destroy Pandora’s Box, something that Rumple sent Ariel to find back in Storybrooke. Surprisingly, these two British men (known to us as Glasses and Keychain) weren’t looking to destroy magic — they just wanted to save their sister.
“We don’t care about magic. Trying to save our sister. She’s been Pan’s prisoner for a long time — over a century,” Glasses explains. “Pan has kept us alive to do his bidding, and as long as we do, she lives.”
“But now that we’ve failed, he’ll kill her,” he adds, trying to bargain with them. Thankfully, it works — just not in the way he expected.
Belle says if they get the box back to Neverland, Pan will have much bigger things to worry about, ensuring them that they can save Wendy, though she didn’t know who the mysterious sister was at the time.
“Her name is Wendy. Wendy Darling. If you see her, tell her John and Michael are waiting for her,” Keychain says, presumably John. This is a twist we didn’t see coming, but it was a sweet surprise.
And while Pan does let Wendy go for a bit in the episode, it’s only to trick Henry into thinking she’s dying and can only be saved with his magic. She tells him that she was friend with Neal and that he saved her brothers long ago, but it’s all a lie; a small part in Pan’s grand scheme to keep Henry believing in him.
However, Belle sends Ariel with a message back to Neverland in hopes that Rumple can save Wendy. Only time will tell if he’ll be able to follow through.
