The Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Salvatores to Help Elena Kill Katherine?

When the words “suicide mission” are being thrown around, you know it’s bad news. The Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec tells The Hollywood Reporter that Elena (Nina Dobrev) won’t get much help from the Salvatores when it comes to her plan to kill Katherine (Nina Dobrev).

In Season 4, Episode 22, “The Walking Dead,” Elena is obsessed with murdering her doppelganger. Julie explains, “her friends, specifically her [sic] brothers, are not on board with this plan. They think she's going to get herself killed and they think even by some miracle if she can successfully defeat Katherine, that cold-blooded murder is not necessarily the best route back to compassionate Elena.”

In fact, Elena’s not feeling compassion, guilt, hope — anything. All she has is anger. “She's definitely desperate to do it and it's making her not herself,” teases Julie. “She's not allowing any other emotions in. She's still very blocked up and closed off because she's turning everything she has into rage.”

Elena’s so laser-focused that it’s clouding her judgment. Julie says, “She's a little bit on a suicide mission.”

Wow. As for whether the Salvatores will dissuade her from her mission — or jump in and help her out — we’ll just have to wait and see.
