Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Trouble Ahead For Bonnie — Visitors From the Other Side “Become an Issue”

Yikes! There’s trouble ahead for Vampire Diaries witch-turned-anchor Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham). Well, that stint of relative happiness didn’t last very long, did it? We just hope Bonnie gave Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) lots of shirtless hugs while she had the chance. What did executive producer Caroline Dries tease about Bonnie’s troubling future?

“Part of [Bonnie’s] personality now is that she carries this cross,” Caroline told TVLine — something Bonnie seemed to have come to terms with in Season 5, Episode 8 (“Dead Man on Campus”). But not if the supernatural passengers to the Other Side have anything to say about it! According to Caroline, some unexpected “visitors” may “become an issue for her.” Are these “visitors” characters we already know? (And, while we’re on the topic, is Katherine still supernatural enough to go to the Other Side or will she go to regular people heaven/hell/purgatory?) Furthermore, how can anyone cause trouble for an anchor? You know, besides the obvious way of causing unbearable pain whenever they die...

Our cautious money is on The Travelers, aka the sect of witchdom of which Nadia (and, technically Katherine?) are a part. Silas (Paul Wesley) and Tessa were both Travelers, as well, which could make this mysterious force a bit of a Big Baddie theme throughout Season 5. What exactly is their end goal? Gregor, Nadia’s boyfriend, came to Mystic Falls to kill Silas, then Katherine. Well, Silas is already dead and Katherine’s on death’s door step. If these tasks are completed, what is next on the Traveler to-do list? And will it involve Bonnie and the other TVDers?

What kind of “visitors” will Bonnie be dealing with? Do you think The Travelers are involved? Sound off in the comments below!

The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday, January 23 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
